A Journal for the OUTRAGED and the OUTRAGEOUS
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
This is a mean-spirited political
(and sometimes literary) journal of opinion, satire, criticism, carping, taxpayer complaint, rumor, expose, cajolery,
larger truth, snide remark, innuendo, vicious editorializing, some occasional objectivity, rare fairness, a fact now and then,
selective ommisions, some high-standard inflamatory yellow journalism mixed with sensitive scandal-sheetism, deadpan naivete,
some practical racism, common-sense sexism, sardonic homophobia, and anything else that flies in the face of political correctness
and liberal censorship; and with little or no praise for public servants doing what they are paid to do.

A new introduction
Ah yes, the tides and currents of time. In March this editor will turn 74. As he stood and watched his years
coming and going Asheville has been swept away and replaced, and been swept away again, and again renewed. For those of us
who have endured the years, it has become a city of ghosty faint memory. The streets, the buildings, the many people who have
briefly left their imprint(—the whiffenpoof—passed and are forgot with all the rest).
While The Independent Torch has been generally noted for local and state political coverage for the 18 years or so of its
existence, it has served the editor in several other secret capacities. We will not name them, but offer some hints.
